WRITING

ABOUT ME

MATE. MAKE. WAIT.

Caroll Sun Yang is a Korean-American artist and career writeress by circumstance, choice and stars. She studied fine art at the Art Center College of Design and while there discovered her taste for words. She switched things up and began focusing on non-fiction writing at USC in the Masters of Professional Writing Program (briefly) and at Antioch University of Los Angeles. Feeling adrift, she also earned certification as a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist through Mental Health America Los Angeles and applied her skills as an advocate for the homeless population at LAMP (Skid Row) Los Angeles, Ca. It is all of these explorations and life circumstances (lonely ass child) combined that have led her to commit to art and writing with a social function. Hey, I wait tables for a living!

She has also given birth to two nifty beings named Elli and Nickie and is married to the hot painter Chas Schroeder. They dream in Highland Park, California.

Her work appears in The Nervous Breakdown, New World Writing, MUTHA Magazine, The Los Angeles Review of Books, McSweeney's Internet Tendency, Necessary Fiction, Identity Theory, Word Riot, Psychopomp, Entrop, Juked, Collapsar (forthcoming) and other fine journals. She is currently at work on her debut collection REAL MAMMAL.

She can never have enough personality-disordered friends/ lo-fi anything/ sarcasm/ photo filters/ art films featuring teens/ Latrinalia/ frosting flowers/ bio changes/ wall gazing/ white sugars/ nature/ naps/ Labrador Retrievers/ bodies of water/ rocks/  collaborations/ kids artwork/ texts/ outsider anything/ kids philosophizing/ memes/ truth/ semblances of truth/ political incorrectness/ affectionate displays/ absurdities/ camouflage plants/ camouflage insects...
Yours,
Caroll
